At the Birmingham (AL) News she was an editorial page writer, assistant state editor, feature writer and reporter. Owens; Washington: Florida’s 12th County, by E. W. Carswell; Heart and History of Holmes County (FL) by Anna Paget Wells, plus some Marlene Womack books, including War Comes to Florida’s Northern Gulf Coast.

Sydney Watson is an author, adventurer, Florida native and English professor. She has published and won awards in Odet, a literary journal, for creative non-fiction and in Seven Hills, for fiction and creative non-fiction. Her novel, Island Salt, awarded Best Book Finalist by US Book News was set in the Bahamas where Sydney lived with her husband for 10 years. She has also lived in Costa Rica, Portugal and Hawaii.
