Nurturing Nature Programs: Magic, Music, Comedy, Crafts, & Activities

The Summer Reading Program activities are growing and blooming during the 5th week, July 17th thru 21st at the Franklin County Public Libraries. Both library branches will have fun activities for both kids and adults during this program in celebration of the theme, “All Together Now”. During week five, these activities will focus on helping participants to discover and care about nature. Library programs are free and open to the public and participants do not need a library card to participate.

Week Five (July 17th- 21st) “Nurturing Nature”

• July 17th- The Moogician 11:00 AM @ Eastpoint; 2:00 PM @ Carrabelle – “The Moogician” is a comedy-variety entertainer who combines magic, juggling, music, and comedy. It’s a non-stop, high-energy show featuring disappearing and reappearing milk, cheese balls and all kinds of dairy related magic and jokes. Add some good down-home banjo pickin’, and it is a mootastic show.
• July 18th- DIY Cloud Spotter 2:00 PM @ Eastpoint – A super simple cloud viewfinder for kids! A wonderful craft idea for weather exploration!
• July 18th- T-Shirt Yarn 2:00 PM @ Carrabelle – Recycle that old t-shirt into something new.
• July 19th- Basics of Butterfly Gardening with Master Gardener, Ted Ruffner 10:30 AM @ Eastpoint – Learn all the tips and tricks to create a beautiful butterfly garden.
• July 19th- Flower Pot Painting 2:00 PM @ both branches
• July 20th- Pinecone Birdfeeders 11:00 AM @ Eastpoint, 2:00 PM @ Carrabelle
• July 21st- Reptile Program with Franklin County UF/IFAS Director, Erik Lovestrand 2:00 PM @ Eastpoint
• July 21st- No Sew Pet Beds 2:00 PM @ Carrabelle

The Summer Reading Program is sponsored by the Friends of the Franklin County Public Libraries. Friends of Franklin County Public Libraries is a 501(c)(3) organization that supports the Franklin County Public Libraries in Eastpoint and Carrabelle, Florida.

Summer Reading is an annual program that brings children, teens, and families into local public libraries for reading and activities. The benefits to readers in a summer reading program include encouraging a lifelong reading habit, attracting reluctant readers through activities, helping children keep their skills up over the summer, and generating interest in the library and books plus the program can provide great summer fun and an opportunity for family time.
