DESCRIPTION:A unique inshore fishing tournament series kicks off its 2021 season in Apalachicola Saturday\, January 9. But instead of redfish and flounder\, teams in this tournament are hunting for abandoned crab traps\, plastics and other marine debris. The Ghost Trap Rodeo\, hosted by the environmental group Ocean Aid 360\, is an opportunity to help improve the fishery\, have fun and compete for prizes. The FWC-permitted event is free to enter\, family friendly and includes free lunch and a swag bag. Entrants compete for $25\,000 in prizes in this six-event series which kicks off its 2021 season in Apalachicola. The four-hour tournament begins at 8am January 9\, 2021 at the 10-foot Hole Boat Ramp in Apalachicola. DESCRIPTION:*To keep our residents and tourists safe\, we are following guidelines established by the CDC and canceling this event until further notice. We apologize for any inconvenience.*\n\nThe St. Marks Lighthouse Quarters will be open to the public for tours from 10 am to 4 pm on the first consecutive Friday and Saturday of each month.\n\nPrice:\n$2 per person (age 12 and older)\n$5 refuge entrance fee*\n\nTickets are sold at the lighthouse (cash or check only) on the day of the event for specific time slots. Only 15 tickets available per day. Ticket sales stop at 3:30 pm.\n\n*Federal passes must be shown or displayed in the vehicle for entrance to the refuge.\n\nThe St. Marks Lighthouse Keeper’s Quarters has major historical significance and recently underwent a costly renovation. We ask our visitors to please follow these guidelines while taking the tour:\n– Leave pets outside\n– No food or drink while on the tour\n– No wet shoes\, bare feet\, or wet clothing\n– Refrain from handling or removing any display items\n– Climbing the tower is prohibited\n\n\nThe St. Marks Lighthouse tours are run by trained volunteer interpreters. The “Sales are Great on 98” community yard sale stretches along Hwy 98 from Panama City to Tallahassee. Folks are invited to set up a spot in the Lighthouse Park at no charge. Yard sale spaces are available from 9 am – 5 pm. \nWith the holiday season here\, it’s the perfect time to enjoy the seasonal market from 9:00 am-1:00 pm at Lighthouse Park\, 1975 Hwy 98 West\, Carrabelle\, FL. The market\, at the foot of the lighthouse\, features vendors from the community with perfect holiday gifts like gorgeous art and photography\, ornaments\, handcrafted soaps\, craft items\, handmade goods\, fresh roasted coffee\, delicious baked goods\, exotic starter plants\, plus unique maritime items inside. \nThis week we will again have delicious food guests can eat while browsing the vendors. Mao’s BBQ will be selling their delicious Mojo chicken or pork\, yellow rice\, and cabbage. At 1:00 pm\, local herbalist\, Denise Williams will take visitors for a guided medicinal plant walk. Denise will lead guests for this 30-minute walk around the grounds of lighthouse and explore its natural resources. The walk costs $5 and accepts a max of 10 people. \nGuests can also visit the free Museum and browse inside the Lighthouse Gift Shop for unique nautical and holiday gifts. In addition\, shoppers have the unique opportunity to climb to the top of the lighthouse for a breathtaking view of the Bay. \nThe Market is actively recruiting new and returning vendors. Vendors may sign up at any time. The cost to be a vendor is FREE through the end of 2020. Drawn to the light\, and to the people of the Northwest Florida coast\, Larry captures a diversity of subjects in dramatically contrasted black and white photographs—the setting sun\, the open cloudless sky\, the performance of a bluesman\, paint peeling off an entryway to a historic building. \nA Different Light is an exhibit of photographic prints that Larry has shot\, edited\, and refined into a collection of series’ that he is making available for the community through this exhibit at JOBA gallery through December 19th. \nJOBA owner/artists Jenny Odom and Beth Appleton will have new works on display during this time\, offering a lovely diversity of art for the month of December. \nThis exhibition will be curated and hosted by JOBA’s Jenny Odom; she asks attendees to please wear masks\, social distance and follow CDC guidelines. \nWe hope you will make plans to see this show during the exhibit dates. DESCRIPTION:*To keep our residents and tourists safe\, we are following guidelines established by the CDC and canceling this event until further notice. We apologize for any inconvenience.*\n\nThe St. Marks Lighthouse Quarters will be open to the public for tours from 10 am to 4 pm on the first consecutive Friday and Saturday of each month.\n\nPrice:\n$2 per person (age 12 and older)\n$5 refuge entrance fee*\n\nTickets are sold at the lighthouse (cash or check only) on the day of the event for specific time slots. Only 15 tickets available per day. Ticket sales stop at 3:30 pm.\n\n*Federal passes must be shown or displayed in the vehicle for entrance to the refuge.\n\nThe St. Marks Lighthouse Keeper’s Quarters has major historical significance and recently underwent a costly renovation. We ask our visitors to please follow these guidelines while taking the tour:\n– Leave pets outside\n– No food or drink while on the tour\n– No wet shoes\, bare feet\, or wet clothing\n– Refrain from handling or removing any display items\n– Climbing the tower is prohibited\n\n\nThe St. Marks Lighthouse tours are run by trained volunteer interpreters. We are continually looking for new volunteers. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer\, please contact Ranger Connie Clineman at constance_clineman@fws.gov.
