DESCRIPTION:*To keep our residents and tourists safe\, we are following guidelines established by the CDC and canceling this event until further notice. We apologize for any inconvenience.*\n\nThe St. Marks Lighthouse Quarters will be open to the public for tours from 10 am to 4 pm on the first consecutive Friday and Saturday of each month.\n\nPrice:\n$2 per person (age 12 and older)\n$5 refuge entrance fee*\n\nTickets are sold at the lighthouse (cash or check only) on the day of the event for specific time slots. Only 15 tickets available per day. Ticket sales stop at 3:30 pm.\n\n*Federal passes must be shown or displayed in the vehicle for entrance to the refuge.\n\nThe St. Marks Lighthouse Keeper’s Quarters has major historical significance and recently underwent a costly renovation. We ask our visitors to please follow these guidelines while taking the tour:\n– Leave pets outside\n– No food or drink while on the tour\n– No wet shoes\, bare feet\, or wet clothing\n– Refrain from handling or removing any display items\n– Climbing the tower is prohibited\n\n\nThe St. Marks Lighthouse tours are run by trained volunteer interpreters. We are continually looking for new volunteers. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer\, please contact Ranger Connie Clineman at constance_clineman@fws.gov.

SUMMARY:Grand Re-Opening and Ribbon Cutting of the Cape St. George Lighthouse
DESCRIPTION:The St. George Lighthouse Association (SGLA) along with the Apalachicola Bay Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony and grand re-opening of the Cape St. George Lighthouse. \nThe Lighthouse has been closed for the month of January to complete a significant restoration project – the largest restoration project since the lighthouse was originally reconstructed at the center of St. George Island in 2008. The lantern room cage was suffering with extensive rust and cracked glass panes and the masonry tower was in need of some TLC. Specialized contractors mitigated the lantern room cage of rust and painted the cage with a three-step industrial coating. Additionally\, the masonry tower was cleaned and painted and all the glass windows in the lantern room were replaced\, offering a clear panoramic view of the Island. \nSGLA is a non-profit Florida corporation organized to preserve\, maintain and promote the Cape St. George Lighthouse. Funds raised by SGLA are used for the on-going maintenance and enhancement of the Lighthouse\, the Keeper’s House and Lighthouse Park. \nView more events at FloridasForgottenCoast.com

DESCRIPTION:A unique inshore fishing tournament series kicks off its 2021 season in Apalachicola Saturday\, January 9. But instead of redfish and flounder\, teams in this tournament are hunting for abandoned crab traps\, plastics and other marine debris. The Ghost Trap Rodeo\, hosted by the environmental group Ocean Aid 360\, is an opportunity to help improve the fishery\, have fun and compete for prizes. The FWC-permitted event is free to enter\, family friendly and includes free lunch and a swag bag. Entrants compete for $25\,000 in prizes in this six-event series which kicks off its 2021 season in Apalachicola. The four-hour tournament begins at 8am January 9\, 2021 at the 10-foot Hole Boat Ramp in Apalachicola. DESCRIPTION:*To keep our residents and tourists safe\, we are following guidelines established by the CDC and canceling this event until further notice. We apologize for any inconvenience.*\n\nThe St. Marks Lighthouse Quarters will be open to the public for tours from 10 am to 4 pm on the first consecutive Friday and Saturday of each month.\n\nPrice:\n$2 per person (age 12 and older)\n$5 refuge entrance fee*\n\nTickets are sold at the lighthouse (cash or check only) on the day of the event for specific time slots. Only 15 tickets available per day. Ticket sales stop at 3:30 pm.\n\n*Federal passes must be shown or displayed in the vehicle for entrance to the refuge.\n\nThe St. Marks Lighthouse Keeper’s Quarters has major historical significance and recently underwent a costly renovation. We ask our visitors to please follow these guidelines while taking the tour:\n– Leave pets outside\n– No food or drink while on the tour\n– No wet shoes\, bare feet\, or wet clothing\n– Refrain from handling or removing any display items\n– Climbing the tower is prohibited\n\n\nThe St. Marks Lighthouse tours are run by trained volunteer interpreters.
