The open-air market\, at the foot of the lighthouse\, features local vendors from the community with perfect gifts and goodies like gorgeous art and photography\, handcrafted balms and soaps\, handmade goods and craft items\, freshly roasted coffee\, delicious baked goods like cinnamon rolls and artisan bread\, fresh herbs from the Lighthouse’s own garden and exotic starter plants. Special for this date\, a vintage flea market has also been added. \n\n\nIn addition to the locally-made\, hand-crafted goods\, shoppers will be able to browse a little of everything from thrift-store worthy scores to high-end antiques. Vendors (new and returning) are welcome to bring their much-loved treasures to the market to find them a new home. The market welcomes an assortment of products such as home décor\, furniture\, vintage jewelry\, music\, antiques\, tools\, ceramics and kitchenware\, books\, art\, toys\, and gently used clothing. Items just need to be clean and in good condition. \n\n\nThe musical duo\, Blues Meets Girl\, is a collaboration of British Blues veteran Mr. Downchild and Texas-born singer/songwriter Kasimira. Together they weave their influences and experiences creating Down Home\, Smokin’ Sexy Blues. \n\n\nGuests can also visit the free Museum and browse inside the Lighthouse Gift Shop for unique nautical gifts. DESCRIPTION:*To keep our residents and tourists safe\, we are following guidelines established by the CDC and canceling this event until further notice. We apologize for any inconvenience.*\n\nThe St. Marks Lighthouse Quarters will be open to the public for tours from 10 am to 4 pm on the first consecutive Friday and Saturday of each month.\n\nPrice:\n$2 per person (age 12 and older)\n$5 refuge entrance fee*\n\nTickets are sold at the lighthouse (cash or check only) on the day of the event for specific time slots. Only 15 tickets available per day. Ticket sales stop at 3:30 pm.\n\n*Federal passes must be shown or displayed in the vehicle for entrance to the refuge.\n\nThe St. Marks Lighthouse Keeper’s Quarters has major historical significance and recently underwent a costly renovation. We ask our visitors to please follow these guidelines while taking the tour:\n– Leave pets outside\n– No food or drink while on the tour\n– No wet shoes\, bare feet\, or wet clothing\n– Refrain from handling or removing any display items\n– Climbing the tower is prohibited\n\n\nThe St. Marks Lighthouse tours are run by trained volunteer interpreters. In 1956 he joined the Chicago Cubs as one of the first African-American scouts in Major League Baseball. Then the first African-American coach in the Major Leagues in 1962. Buck also founded the Negro League Baseball Museum in Kansas City\, MO\, and was posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2006. \nThe History Speaker Series programs are popular and due to COVID precautions\, seating will be limited to 50 attendees. DESCRIPTION:The November Sunset and Full Moon Climb at the Cape St. George Lighthouse on St. George Island will be held on Friday\, November 19\, 2021. Visitors can enjoy this opportunity to view St. George Island\, the Gulf of Mexico\, and the Apalachicola bay under the evening sky. \nThe Sunset and Full Moon Climb will begin at 5:30 p.m. and run until 7:30 p.m. Fifteen-minute time slots will be allotted for each group on a first-come\, first-served basis. No advanced reservations will be taken. You will purchase your tickets in the gift shop and then sign up for your 15-minute time slot with the lighthouse keeper. Up to 12 persons are allowed in each 15-minute time slot. The gift shop will open at 5:00 pm to begin selling tickets. \nCost is $10.00 per climber for the general public and $7.00 for members of the St. George Lighthouse Association. Cash or credit card payments accepted. All climbers must be at least 40 inches tall to climb the tower and children must be age 13 and over to access the outside catwalk. For more information\, please contact the Lighthouse Gift Shop at 850-927-7745. \nThe sun will set at 5:42 p.m. and the “Beaver” moon will rise at 6:00 p.m. on November 19th. The November full moon is called the Beaver Moon because at this time of year beavers are preparing for winter\, and it is the time to set beaver traps to ensure a supply of warm winter furs before the swamps freeze over. Full Moon names are attributable to Native American tribes\, most notably the Algonquin\, who named the moons to mark the changing seasons. \nThe Cape St. George Light is located in St. George Lighthouse Park at the center of St. George Island\, where Island Drive (the road off the bridge) ends at Gulf Beach Drive. DESCRIPTION:The Crooked River Lighthouse will be hosting another one of its popular Full Moon Lighthouse Climbs on Friday\, November 19\, from 5-8 pm in Carrabelle\, FL. Visitors can enjoy this opportunity to see the gorgeous natural surroundings of the St. George Sound and Carrabelle Beach under the glow of the rising full moon. With cooler weather here\, guests are invited to relax by the large\, glowing fire pit and enjoy some delicious complimentary s’mores (weather permitting). Visitors can also enjoy hot chocolate on the front porch. The museum and gift shop will be open for browsing and shopping. Bring a chair and enjoy the evening. \nThe climb to the top of the tallest Forgotten Coast lighthouse rewards bold climbers with breathtaking views of the bay. The cost is $8 for adults and $3 for kids. All climbers must be at least 44 inches tall. Due to the popularity of the Full Moon Climbs\, advance reservations are required for those who wish to climb the lighthouse tower during this event. There will be a time limit for viewing from the top.  Guests who would like a more leisurely climbing experience are welcome to enjoy one of the daytime climbs available every Wednesday through Sunday. DESCRIPTION:The St. George Lighthouse Association in partnership with SGI Veterans Reveille Group and the 106th American Legion in Apalachicola invite everyone to attend the Veterans Day Ceremony in Lighthouse Park on Thursday\, November 11\, 2021\, at 11 AM. \nVeterans Day is an official United States public holiday\, observed annually on November 11\, that honors military veterans; that is\, persons who served in the United States Armed Forces.\nGuest speaker will be Major General Donald Ralph\, US Air Force\, Retired. He retired in 2015 as the Mobilization Assistant to the Commander\, Air Force Special Operations Command\, Hurlburt Field\, Florida. He served as the principal advisor to the Commander for all reserve component matters and oversees reserve force readiness\, integration\, operations\, and mobilization in time of crisis and war. \nGeneral Ralph entered the Air Force in 1980 as a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy. He served as a C-130 advanced flying training instructor pilot\, followed by an Air Staff Training assignment at the Pentagon. He was then selected initial cadre aircraft commander to fly the B-1B bomber at McConnell AFB\, Kansas followed by selection to attend U.S. Air Force Test Pilot School. General Ralph has served as an instructor\, flight examiner and operations officer of a tactical airlift squadron. He commanded the 53rd Weather Reconnaissance Squadron\, the world famous “Hurricane Hunters.” Over his 35-year career\, he has worked for commanders of two combatant commands and commanders of four major commands. In his civilian occupation\, he is employed as an international captain on the B-767 for a major airline. \nWe encourage you to attend as we honor all veterans and fill Lighthouse Park for this very important event.
