SUMMARY:Porch Fest Apalach
DESCRIPTION:Apalachicola’s grassroots roaming music festival—where porches are stages\, yards are venues\, and good vibes rule the day!—returns for the fourth year\, bigger and better. \n26 Musical Acts\n13 Porches\n3 Stages \nPorch Fest Apalach was created in 2020 as a way to share the diversity of music from our area and beyond\, and pair it with the unique historic homes and neighborhoods of Apalachicola. Check local venue listings for details. \nIn addition to the multiple music acts\, there will be food trucks and vendors at Lafayette and Battery Parks for the day. Local restaurants will also be open. \nWe encourage people to bring chairs\, blankets\, bicycles\, wagons\, picnics\, cash (for tipping\, donations\, food\, drink)\, hats and sunscreen. \nMaps and a full schedule can be found on the event website and Facebook page. \nThe list of 2023 musical acts (in alphabetical order): \nApalachicola Rhythm Section\, Betsy Crabb\, Billy Rigsby Band\, Blues Meets Girl\, Bottle Kids\, Clayton Mathis & the VonWamps\, D. SUMMARY:October Sunset and Full Moon Climb at the Cape St. George Lighthouse
DESCRIPTION:The October Sunset and Full Moon Climb at the Cape St. George Lighthouse on St. George Island will be held on Saturday\, October 28\, 2023. Visitors can enjoy this opportunity to view St. George Island\, the Gulf of Mexico and the Apalachicola bay under the evening sky. \nThe Sunset and Full Moon Climb will begin at 6:30 p.m. and run until 8:30 p.m. Fifteen-minute time slots will be allotted for each group on a first come\, first served basis. No advanced reservations will be taken. You will purchase your tickets in the gift shop and then sign up for your 15-minute time slot with the lighthouse keeper. Up to 12 persons allowed in each 15-minute time slot. The gift shop will open at 6:00 p.m. to begin selling tickets. \nCost is $10.00 per climber for the general public and $7.00 for members of the St. George Lighthouse Association. Cash or credit card payments accepted. All climbers must be at least 40 inches tall to climb the tower and children must be age 13 and over to access the outside catwalk. For more information\, please contact the Lighthouse Gift Shop at 850-927-7745. \nThe sun will set at 6:56 p.m. and the “Hunter’s” moon will rise at 6:53 p.m. on October 28th. This full Moon is often referred to as the Full Hunter’s Moon\, Blood Moon\, or Sanguine Moon. Many moons ago\, Native Americans named this bright moon for obvious reasons. The leaves are falling from trees\, the deer are fattened\, and it is time to begin storing up meat for the long winter ahead. Because the fields were traditionally reaped in late September or early October\, hunters could easily see fox and other animals that come out to glean from the fallen grains. Probably because of the threat of winter looming close\, the Hunter’s Moon is generally accorded with special honor\, historically serving as an important feast day in both Western Europe and among many Native American tribes. \nThe Cape St. George Light is located in St. George Lighthouse Park at the center of St. George Island\, where Island Drive (the road off the bridge) ends at Gulf Beach Drive. Parking is available in lots at either side of the park. \nView more events at FloridasForgottenCoast.com

SUMMARY:Art Exhibition for Talented Painter\, Cal Allen
DESCRIPTION:The Gallery at Rio Carrabelle is thrilled to present an art exhibition featuring the work of talented painter\, Cal Allen in the historic art venue\, Rio Carrabelle in Carrabelle\, Florida.
